Skillet Lemon Asparagus Chicken Recipe

Some nights, I just want dinner to feel bright, clean, and effortless.
That’s where this Skillet Lemon Asparagus Chicken comes in — juicy seared chicken, crisp-tender asparagus, and a garlicky lemon sauce that’s light but full of flavor.
This recipe is perfect for spring or summer when asparagus is in season and you want something that feels fresh but still satisfying. It’s also one of my favorite ways to sneak in veggies without complaints — especially when the sauce is this good.
One pan. 25 minutes. And hardly any cleanup. My kind of meal.
Ingredients:
-
1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts (thin sliced or pounded)
-
1 bunch asparagus, trimmed and cut into thirds
-
1 tbsp olive oil
-
2 cloves garlic, minced
-
Juice and zest of 1 large lemon
-
¼ cup low-sodium chicken broth or water
-
Salt and pepper to taste
-
Optional: fresh parsley or shaved Parmesan for garnish
Instructions:
-
Cook the chicken
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Season chicken with salt and pepper, then cook 4–5 minutes per side until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside. -
Sauté the asparagus
In the same pan, add a little more oil if needed. Add asparagus and cook 3–4 minutes, just until crisp-tender. Stir in garlic and cook 1 more minute. -
Deglaze and build flavor
Add lemon juice, lemon zest, and chicken broth to the skillet. Stir and simmer 1–2 minutes to reduce slightly. -
Return chicken and finish
Place chicken back into the skillet and spoon sauce over the top. Simmer for 1–2 minutes to reheat and combine flavors. Garnish with parsley or Parmesan if desired.
Sarah’s Tips:
-
Add carbs: Serve with brown rice, quinoa, or roasted potatoes for a more filling meal.
-
Make it dairy-free: Skip the cheese or add a dollop of dairy-free pesto for extra punch.
-
Extra flavor: Add a splash of white wine instead of broth for a special touch.
-
Meal prep win: This keeps well in the fridge and tastes even better the next day.
Flavorful Conclusion:
This Skillet Lemon Asparagus Chicken Recipe is light, zesty, and the perfect weeknight meal when you want something fast, healthy, and full of summer flavor. Whether you're cooking for one or feeding the whole crew, this one-pan wonder is fresh, clean, and totally satisfying.
