Chicken Waldorf Salad Recipe

This Chicken Waldorf Salad is one of those meals that feels both classic and fresh at the same time. Creamy, crunchy, a little sweet, a little savory—it’s the perfect balance.

I started making this when I was craving something cool and crisp on warm days but still wanted enough protein to keep me full. The chopped chicken, crisp apples, celery, grapes, and crunchy walnuts tossed in a creamy Greek yogurt dressing? It’s a total win.

Whether you serve it in lettuce cups, over greens, or tucked into a whole grain wrap, this salad is simple, clean, and satisfying in all the right ways.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked chicken breast, chopped or shredded

  • 1/2 cup red grapes, halved

  • 1 small apple, diced (Honeycrisp or Gala work great)

  • 1/4 cup chopped celery

  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts

  • 2 tbsp red onion, finely chopped (optional)

For the Dressing:

  • 1/3 cup plain Greek yogurt

  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard

  • 1 tsp honey or maple syrup

  • 1 tsp lemon juice

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine chicken, grapes, apple, celery, walnuts, and red onion if using.

  2. In a small bowl, whisk together Greek yogurt, Dijon, honey, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.

  3. Pour the dressing over the chicken mixture and toss until everything is coated evenly.

  4. Chill for 10–15 minutes before serving. Serve over a bed of greens, in lettuce cups, or with whole grain crackers or pita.

Why I Love This Salad

It’s creamy and crunchy with just the right touch of sweetness—and it always hits the spot. I love making a batch at the start of the week for easy lunches that feel comforting and fresh at the same time.

When I was working on eating cleaner, this was one of those recipes that helped me stay full, satisfied, and totally on track without feeling like I was “dieting.”
