3-Ingredient BBQ Chicken Recipe

If you’re looking for the ultimate no-brainer dinner, this 3-Ingredient BBQ Chicken is it.

I’ve been making this for years on the busiest days — school pickups, soccer nights, or when I just don’t want to think about cooking. With only three simple ingredients, this slow cooker meal comes together in minutes and turns out tender, juicy, and full of that smoky-sweet BBQ flavor everyone loves.

It’s clean, easy, and super family-friendly. Serve it on lettuce wraps, over rice, or tucked into sliders — it works with whatever you’ve got on hand.

Ingredients

  • 1.5–2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts

  • 1 cup BBQ sauce (look for one with clean ingredients, low sugar)

  • 1/2 cup chicken broth or water

Optional Toppings/Serving Ideas:

  • Lettuce wraps or buns

  • Sliced red onion or pickles

  • Coleslaw on top

  • Roasted sweet potatoes or cauliflower rice

Instructions

  1. Place chicken breasts in the bottom of your slow cooker.

  2. Pour BBQ sauce and chicken broth over the top. Cover and cook on low for 5–6 hours or high for 3–4 hours, until the chicken shreds easily with a fork.

  3. Shred the chicken right in the slow cooker and stir it to soak up all the flavorful sauce.

  4. Serve warm however you like — it’s super versatile and makes amazing leftovers too.

Why I Love This Dinner

It’s impossible to mess up, and it always tastes great. It’s the kind of recipe that makes you feel like you’ve got dinner under control even when your day feels totally chaotic.

When I first started eating cleaner, this was one of those “bridge” recipes that kept me on track without having to sacrifice flavor — or time.
